                            MANAGING DIRECTOR POSITION

                            Crested Butte Mountain Theatre seeks person experienced in community theatre management to serve as Managing Director.   Full time job, up to $35,000.   Responsibilities:  production coordinating, play season planning/scheduling, facilities management, financial planning and volunteer development.   Skilled in marketing, PR and fundraising; building community alliances and nurturing Theatre’s memberships.   Proficient in organizational, personal communication and computer skills.   Nonprofit and grant experience a plus.  More details below.

                            CBMT Managing Director Job Description

                            The Crested Butte Mountain Theatre’s mission is to entertain, educate and enrich the Crested Butte community by providing a well-balanced theatrical season of high artistic quality each year. Revenues equal $90,000 - $150,000.


                            DESCRIPTION:
                            Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director will implement the infrastructure and systems to support multiple productions and activities throughout the year. The Managing Director will partner with Board of Directors to ensure that the focus remains on the organization’s mission while maintaining the culture that makes CBMT unique. S/he will comprehend the symbiotic nature of the relationship with the Board and the community and will work within and help define policies for a sustainable relationship.

                            S/he will be responsible for the oversight of administrative and financial systems including accounting, database maintenance, volunteer resources, communications, and physical facilities. As a non voting member of the Board of Directors the Managing Director will be involved in a range of strategic planning and fund raising initiatives. 

                            S/he will work closely with the Board and the Administrative Assistant in developing CBMT strategic plans. The Managing Director, as a liaison to the Board of Directors' finance committee, will work closely with the committee to strengthen CBMT financial position and other items as required. S/he will continually evaluate best industry practices in comparison to internal systems and needed resources, with an eye toward both future needs and budget realities.

                            The Managing Director will attend Board meetings and complete status reports. This executive will have direct management responsibility for a staff of one Administrative Assistant.

                            RESPONSIBILITIES:
                             Finance and Budgeting
                             The Managing Director will have financial management responsibility including the review and approval of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting materials and information for the Board of Directors. S/he will oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, cash flow and coordination of audit  activities as well as accounts payable and receivable. The ideal candidate will not only be able to reconcile financial activities but should also be skilled at capturing key data and processes in order to demonstrate the relationship between CBMT’s goals and resulting fundraising needs.  The Managing Director will be responsible for grant research and writing.

                            Administration/Operations
                            The Managing Director will oversee and be responsible for all production coordinating activities, including:
                             *Play season scheduling/planning via Artistic Advisory Council and playbill.
                             *Production logistics – detail calendar of activities including marketing of play, auditions, stage sets, tech, etc. 
                             *Facilities management – taking care of physical assets, tech, building, personal property, bar inventory.
                             *Draft and monitor budget, P&L and cash flow for both production and general administration area. 
                             *Staffing (both paid and unpaid), including play directors, musical director, rehearsal pianist, choreographer, stage    
                               manager, tech workers, interns.
                             *Growing database of donors-both individual and business, underwriting, sponsors, membership as well as and   
                               especially farming the volunteers base.
                             *She will have overall responsibility for recruitment of staff volunteers.

                            Marketing and Public Relations
                            The Managing Director will oversee the marketing and public relations activities of CBMT.
                             *S/he will actively work on alliances with other entities including the Arts Alliance.
                             *S/he managing director will oversee fundraising and actively assist the board in raising funds.

                            Qualifications
                            The Managing Director will have 5+ years of experience, with 3 years managing a theatre. The successful candidate will have experience in all facets of the theatres operation.  Additionally the candidate will be a highly motivated, well-organized individual.  Experience working with volunteers is a plus. Nonprofit experience is a plus, with a strong preference for someone who has operated in a dynamic environment that has limited budgets and resources.


                            Other qualifications include:
                             *Demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting.

                             *Technologically savvy, with experience overseeing information technology staff or vendors.
                             *Experience effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, the Board or other  
                               outside partners/influencers/clients.
                             *Success seeing beyond, identifying trends and new possibilities.
                             *Bachelor's degree preferred.
