Urinetown: June 21-24, 28-30, July 1st, 2012
IN REHEARSAL: An award-winning Broadway hit, Musical Theatre International calls it: "One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, URINETOWN is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold..." Urinetown: The Musical, (Pronounced “Yoor ‘n toun”), is a satirical Broadway musical comedy with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis and book by Greg Kotis. It satirizes the legal system, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement and municipal politics. The story line opens with a twenty-year drought, causing a terrible water shortage, making private toilets unthinkable. This Crested Butte Mountain Theatre production, directed by Mona Wood-Patterson and Charles Ford, will be performed at the Crested Butte Center for the Arts June 21-24, 28-30 and July 1st.
Celebrating 40 years of Laughs and Cheers
The Crested Butte Mountain Theater is thrilled to announce its 40th Anniversary season, celebrating 40 years of laughs and cheers. The Crested Butte Mountain Theatre was born in the summer of 1972 by an energetic, talented group of people, (most of whom are still here!), who had the vision to see a remote community provide some of its own unique culture. The first show was Dark of the Moon, played outdoors against the backdrop of a full moon rising from behind Crested Butte Mountain.
We invite you to join us for an exciting 2012 season which includes the satirical, comical Broadway hit musical Urinetown in June, CBMT's very first production, Dark of the Moon, performed again in August and The Dixie Swim Club in September. Additionally we have YouTheatre, Ten-Minute Plays, July Workshops, Teens on Stage and various festive Anniversary events scheduled including a full on reunion in August with barbeques and brunches. We close out the year with a very special Holiday performance of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and jump into the new year with our annual gala event, The Golden Marmot Awards. For more information and a complete schedule click here. Auditions for Dark of the Moon, directed by Barbara Segal will be held in June. This production will be performed at the Mallardi Cabaret Theatre, in conjunction with our 40th Anniversary events, on August 2-5 and 9-11.

About
The Crested Butte Mountain Theatre was born in the summer of 1972 by an energetic, talented group of people who had the vision to see a remote community provide some of its own unique culture. The first show was Dark of the Moon, played against the backdrop of a full moon rising from behind Crested Butte Mountain. Spectators sat on blankets in the grass, enthralled by the astonishing event unfolding before them. On stage were their friends - acting, singing, playing, and dancing. Today, we continue that tradition with a state of the art lighting system and a newly designed theatre. We welcome you to join us in 2012 as a participant, volunteer or guest, young and old alike, and help us celebrate 40 years of community theatre.
Mission
